Company Profile
GeoSpec offers services in the area of near surface (engineering and environmental) geophysical services. Our services cover four main categories as summarized below:
Structural Geophysics: using ground penetrating radar (GPR) for evaluation of civil structures. GPR can be used for locating structural steel and post-tension cables in concrete, bridge deck evaluation, voids and moisture inside and behind concrete or asphalt slabs or walls, slab or wall thickness, pavement thickness and layer analysis, and location of grade beams.
Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE): application of specific and pertinent geophysical techniques and vacuum excavation to subsurface utility and infrastructure mapping. In industrial and commercial construction projects, a major source of delays and additional costs is due to encountering utilities and other objects or debris in unexpected places during excavation. Locating or designating utilities and other subsurface objects (like foundations or pilings) prior to excavation can potentially avert the delays and cost overruns encountered from locating these same objects during excavation.
Contract / Private Utility Locating: using state-of-the-art electromagnetic/ acoustic equipment, GeoSpec is able to supply your company with around-the-clock facility protection with our contract/private utility locating department.
General Geophysical Surveys: using various geophysical tools to solve subsurface problems including underground storage tank (UST) location, archeological surveys, unexploded ordnance (UXO) location, karst sinkhole location, void location, pipeline leak location/definition, landfill cover definition, etc.
Infrared Inspection/Thermography Services: thermal imaging or infrared thermography has long been a valuable tool in the predictive preventative maintenance field. Thermography allows our certified technicians to identify and document problems in the field that may not have been found until it had caused an unscheduled shutdown, which can result in lost revenue due to down time.
