Continental Electric is one of the country's oldest and most highly regarded independent manufacturers of custom-made electric motors. Our motors, ranging between 100 hp and 3,000 HP, and our motor generators has been selected by the military and by prestigious companies both here and aboard.
Every Continental Electric motor and generator is entirely U.S. made, and custom designed to our customer's most demanding specifications. We begin with our library of more than 19,000 proven designs. These include squirrel cage and wound rotor introduction motors as well as DC motors and generators. We then modify these designs, using advanced CAD/CAM systems, to achieve the power, torque, efficiency and power factor you require.
The heart of our company is innovation. Since initiating business more than 70 years ago, Continental has pioneered some of our industry's most important advances. These include explosion-proof motors, and oil lubricated ball bearings in horizontal and vertical motors.
While its heart is innovation, Continental's backbone is engineering and production. Our 60,000 sq. ft. plant in Newark, NJ houses an array of manual and CNC machine tools, metal fabrication equipment, advanced materials handling systems, vacuum pressure impregnation, as well as equipment for the curing and baking that's specific to motor manufacturing.
