Industrial inspections or Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) are services critical to industrial plants. These services include; visual inspection, dye penetrant, fluoroscopic, magnetic flux, magnetic-particle, phased array, radiographic, ultrasonic, eddy-current, acoustic emission, and thermographic.

NDT is a wide group of services used to evaluate critical equipment and materials without causing damage. NDT does not alter the article the item being inspected.

Piping and fabricated equipment for industrial applications use welds extensively. Welds are one of the most non-destructive tested manufacturing processes. Welding defects include; lack of fusion of the weld to the base metal, cracks or porosity inside the weld, and variations in weld density. These flaws if undetected could lead to catastrophic failure of the pipe or fabricated equipment. Welds may be tested using NDT techniques such as radiography, ultrasonic testing, liquid penetrant testing or eddy current and flux leakage.
